About The Position

Responsible for ensuring the financial and administrative integrity of the institutional research program, including compliance with internal and external requirements. This role involves reviewing externally sponsored research applications, ensuring regulatory reviews and institutional approvals are in place, and evaluating proposed budgets for consistency and reasonability. The analyst will work with Principal Investigators and staff to ensure timely submission, review and approve budgets for industry-sponsored studies, and ensure consistency with the statement of work. They will also review payments under such budgets, determine compliance risk of collaborators, and negotiate and issue subcontracts. Additionally, the position involves approving and maintaining Time & Effort reports, analyzing results, and providing related data for institutional reports. Establishing restricted fund accounts, ensuring complete review and reporting of expenditures, and preparing various reports for granting agencies or management are key responsibilities. The analyst will serve as a content expert for regulations, policies, and systems impacting sponsored research, respond to inquiries, assist with problem-solving, and train other staff. Driving process improvement by communicating with funding agencies and preparing/certifying invoices under contracts are also part of the role. Maintaining employee and confidential information is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration or related field required.
  • A minimum of 3 years financial administration ideally in an academic, research or governmental organization required.
  • Experience with grants and related regulations, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews externally sponsored research applications for compliance with sponsor requirements and National Jewish Health policies.
  • Ensures regulatory reviews and institutional approvals are in place.
  • Evaluates proposed budget for consistency and reasonability.
  • Works with Principal Investigator and staff to ensure timely submission.
  • Reviews and approves budgets for industry-sponsored studies, ensuring consistency with the statement of work.
  • Reviews payments under such budgets to ensure proper assignment.
  • Determines compliance risk of collaborators and recommends monitoring plans, if necessary.
  • Negotiates and issues subcontracts under externally sponsored research projects.
  • Approves and maintains submitted Time & Effort reports for compliance with institutional requirements and sponsor guidelines.
  • Analyses the results on a periodic basis to ensure reasonability.
  • Provides related data as requested for use in institutional cost reports or analyses.
  • Establishes restricted fund accounts in accordance with award statements, grantor policies and departmental procedures.
  • Ensures complete review and reporting of expenditures for grants/contracts including analysis of allowable costs, adjusting journal entries and follow-up procedures through the close-out phase.
  • Prepares, reviews and/or assists with preparation of various reports required by granting agencies or management including researching, compiling and analyzing data.
  • Serves as content expert for regulations, policies and systems impacting sponsored research.
  • Responds to inquiries from Principal Investigators and Grants Management Specialists and assists with problem solving.
  • Trains other staff as requested.
  • Drives plans for process improvement by communicating with funding agencies in response to inquiries or to clarify policies.
  • Prepares and certifies invoices as required under contracts including Health Initiatives and research collaborators.
  • Follows up with partners regarding accounts receivable.
  • Maintains employee confidentiality and any other confidential information that is obtained during the performance of your job.
