About The Position

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking a Grants Administrator for the Division of Surface Water (DSW) at its Central Office in Columbus, Ohio. This role involves managing state and federal grant programs, coordinating with DSW grant program managers, and overseeing the development and implementation of various environmental grant applications, agreements, and closeout documents. The position requires supervision and administration of subgrant agreements, tracking budgets and spending, and providing updates to DSW administration. The Grants Administrator will also assist program staff in subgrantee selection, ensure subgrant workplan compliance, and manage activities such as contract executions and payment approvals. A key responsibility is ensuring subgrantee compliance with federal and state grant guidance and regulations, including reviewing fiscal reports and payment requests through a grant tracking system. The role also involves preparing written correspondence, guidance documents, and reference materials.

Requirements

  • 24 months of training or experience in preparation & monitoring of grants and/or other fiscal accounts.
  • 12 months of training or experience in supervisory principles/techniques.
  • Official educational transcripts are required for post-high school educational accomplishments, coursework or degrees claimed on the application.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of undergraduate core program in accounting and/or finance.
  • 12 months of experience as Grants Coordinator 2, 63162.
  • Alternative, equivalent evidence of the Major Worker Characteristics noted above.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with DSW grant program managers to develop and implement comprehensive Clean Water Act Sections 106 604 (b), and 319 Nonpoint Source Implementation, Gulf Hypoxia Task Force, Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, H2Ohio, and additional grant applications, agreements, payment requests, and closeout documents.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and administer state and federal subgrant agreements.
  • Track grant budgets and spending, and provide timely updates to DSW administration and grant program managers.
  • Assist program staff with the selection of subgrantees, ensuring appropriate subgrant workplan and environmental deliverables.
  • Coordinate activities such as contract executions, payment approvals, and fiscal status reports.
  • Ensure subgrantee compliance with federal and state grant guidance and regulations.
  • Review and approve quarterly fiscal reports, payment requests, and progress reports through a grant tracking system.
  • Prepare written correspondence, guidance documents, and reference materials.
