About The Position

The Regional Transit Authority gets people moving around New Orleans. Our transit services provide mobility to residents of the city as well as tourists, providing incredible views and comfortable rides through historical neighborhoods and countless attractions. RTA’s system includes 5 streetcar lines, 30 bus routes, 2 ferry routes, and paratransit services. Our passengers take more than 19 million rides every year. Non-Represented Employment Opportunity JOB Title: GRANT ACCOUNTANT POSITION STATUS: Full-Time FLSA CLASSIFICATION: exEmpt JOB SUMMARY The Grants Accountant is responsible for managing the financial lifecycle of grant funding, tracking grant budgets, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple grants and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of government regulations associated with the transit industry
  • Concise oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years’ experience in working with federal/state grant programs, including submission, grant approval, implementation, closeout, or comparable experience or any combination of education and experience deemed to be comparable.
  • A valid Louisiana Driver's License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee financial activities for federal and state grant programs.
  • Monitor grant expenditures to ensure compliance with grant agreements, regulations, and funding requirements.
  • Prepare and submit grant reimbursement requests and financial reports accurately and timely.
  • Reconcile grant accounts and maintain supporting documentation for all grant-related transactions.
  • Review invoices, requisitions, and expenditures for allowability and compliance with grant requirements.
  • Track grant budgets and provide regular budget-to-actual analysis.
  • Perform budget revisions and amendments.
  • Monitor period of performance and funding availability.
  • Maintain records to support audits.
  • Prepare financial schedules and documentation for auditors and grantor agencies.
  • Coordinate with program managers and department staff regarding grant expenditures, budget status, and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate grant close-out information; prepare and submit close-out report, follow up with unresolved item(s), if any, through the period of financial acceptance.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies, compliance issues, and reporting concerns.
