About The Position
The Grant Writing Intern will work with Charity Champions to find grants to help bring funding to these nonprofits. The intern will identify viable grants, draft proposals, and communicate the organization's mission and programs to potential funders. This role involves researching potential leads for government, corporate, and foundation grants, and gathering statistics and information to support Charity Champions. The intern will also comply with grant reporting requirements and analyze nonprofit needs that grants will support. A significant portion of the work hours will be spent at the organization's offices, and the intern will attend weekly meetings with the intern team and have weekly contact with the organization they serve.
Requirements
- Must be a student employee.
- Must spend 50% of clocked-in time working at the organization’s offices.
- Must attend weekly meetings with the intern team.
- Must have at least 1 “touch point” meeting with the organization they serve per week.
Responsibilities
- Identify 10 viable grants and draft 5 proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations each semester, with at least 3 proposals finalized and submitted by semester's end.
- Persuasively communicate the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders.
- Research potential leads for government, corporate and foundation grants.
- Research statistics, facts and relevant local and national information to support each of the Charity Champions.
- Comply with all grant reporting as required by government/foundations/corporate donors.
- Attend weekly meetings with the intern team to update on progress.
- Have at least 1 “touch point” meeting with the organization they serve per week.
- Analyze and identify needs within the nonprofits that grants will support.
