About The Position

The Grant Writer plays a vital role in advancing The Just One Project's mission to nourish and uplift our community. Working in close partnership with the Senior Executive Director of Revenue, this position leads the full lifecycle of grant development, submission, and reporting, ensuring TJOP has the resources needed to show up for the people who count on us most.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to craft clear and compelling grant narratives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for diverse stakeholder collaboration across internal teams and external funders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize accordingly.
  • In-depth knowledge of grant regulations, compliance, and reporting standards.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications; familiarity with Slack is advantageous.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated, hands-on experience writing Foundation and local or jurisdictional grants.
  • 3+ years of proven experience in grant management or a related nonprofit sector role.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Food Handlers Card within thirty (30) days of hire due to required participation in food distribution events.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and meet the organization's insurability requirements.
  • Reliable transportation is required to fulfill travel related responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Research and collaborate with the SEDR to identify grant opportunities aligned with TJOP's mission and strategic priorities.
  • Create and maintain an annual calendar of upcoming proposals, internal deadlines, and external reporting deadlines.
  • Lead grant proposal writing and submission in partnership with the SEDR, including preparing, organizing, and submitting all application materials and monitoring grant application status.
  • Draft proposals, Letters of Inquiry (LOIs), grant application narratives, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate meetings with the SEDR, CEO, Program staff, and/or Development Team to finalize grant proposals prior to submission.
  • Manage budget creation and the grant submission process in collaboration with the SEDR.
  • Monitor and maintain funder reporting schedules and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain all necessary supporting materials for reporting in collaboration with Finance and Program staff, including budget reports, outcome measurements, success stories, and related documentation.
  • Collaborate with Program staff on monthly and annual grant reporting and quarterly and final reports to funders.
  • Steward funding through the entire grant lifecycle from submission to reporting to renewal where applicable.
  • Maintain a library of grant support documents including resumes, bios, IRS forms, Board and staff lists, and organizational materials.
  • Collaborate with Development and Marketing staff to ensure deliverables are met for grant and restricted revenue, including public recognition and social media obligations.
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the scope and purpose of the position.
