About The Position

UT MD Anderson is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. Within the Department of Bioinformatics, the Grant Program Coordinator supports research operations through grant administration, financial coordination, effort reporting, and funding reconciliation activities that help advance departmental objectives. The Grant Program Coordinator works closely with faculty, administrators, and research support teams to manage grant-related processes throughout the award lifecycle. The Grant Program Coordinator plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial reporting, supporting proposal development, and ensuring administrative compliance. The Grant Program Coordinator contributes to the effective management of sponsored and non-sponsored funding sources across the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Three extensive administrative experience. With master's degree, one year of experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one year basis.

  • Experience supporting grant administration and sponsored projects, including account reconciliation, grant review and coordination, effort reporting, grant and contract financial reporting, proposal tracking, budget preparation, financial projections, faculty effort monitoring, reconciliation of non-grant funding sources, and use of Click Grants.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Grant Program Manager with pre-award and post-award grant and contract administrative and financial activities
  • Coordinate grant-related workflows and administrative processes within the Department of Bioinformatics
  • Master the use of Click Grants for grant administration activities
  • Complete and apply all available grant-related training as operational schedules permit
  • Work independently to manage complex grant administration issues and support departmental needs
  • Assist faculty with grant budget preparation and proposal development activities
  • Support preparation of proposal-related documentation and required submissions
  • Ensure Biosketches and other support documentation remain current and accurate
  • Coordinate with administrative staff to obtain required proposal materials
  • Track proposal status and provide updates as needed
  • Reconcile grant activity and monitor financial transactions
  • Prepare grant financial reports for the Research Department Administrator, Chair, and faculty
  • Develop and communicate financial projections related to grant funding
  • Reconcile and report on non-grant funding sources
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding faculty effort on grants managed outside the department
  • Prepare effort cards prior to faculty certification
  • Work with faculty and Grants & Contracts personnel to ensure effort cards are certified correctly
  • Review and reconcile effort-related issues
  • Assist with review of effort reporting letters to ensure alignment between actual and planned effort
  • Monitor faculty effort reporting requirements and support compliance activities
  • Assist with other duties as assigned
  • Participate in pilot or testing groups related to Research Finance initiatives
  • Support additional departmental programs and operational activities as needed
  • Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and departmental stakeholders on grant-related matters
