About The Position

Ampere works alongside rural, remote, northern, Indigenous, and other underserved communities to create opportunities through STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) education, digital skills training, workforce development, and other innovative, community-based programming. We're looking for an experienced Grant and Proposal Writing Specialist who can turn great ideas into compelling, competitive funding proposals that secure investment and support meaningful community impact across Canada. Compensation will reflect the experience and expertise the successful candidate brings. Working across Ampere’s Office of Sustainable Funding, including the Strategic Development and Social Enterprise divisions, you will develop high-quality grant applications, funding proposals, and competitive bid responses. You will combine strong writing skills with project planning, budget development, and attention to detail to create proposals that clearly communicate Ampere’s impact and meet the requirements of funders and clients. This is an opportunity for a skilled proposal writing professional who enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating with teams, and creating persuasive submissions that help bring innovative programs to life.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience developing government grants, funding proposals, and/or competitive bid responses.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Education or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong understanding of Canadian government funding applications, grant requirements, and/or procurement processes.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Ability to translate organizational priorities and emerging ideas into fundable project concepts, compelling narratives, and competitive funding strategies.
  • Experience developing project budgets, budget narratives, and financial justifications.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex guidelines and requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with program teams, leadership, technical experts, and community partners.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency working in Google Suite, and preferred experience working in Monday.com or similar project management/CRM software.

  • Experience within rural, remote and Indigenous communities in Canada is an asset.
  • Fundraising experience within a not for profit, charity, or social enterprise setting is an asset.
  • Experience in STEAM is an asset.
  • Ability to speak and write in English, French and/or Inuktitut is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate funding opportunities and develop application strategies by analyzing funder priorities, eligibility criteria, evaluation frameworks, and allowable costs to determine fit and inform project design, positioning, and proposal development.
  • Develop and write compelling grant applications, funding proposals, and competitive bid responses that align with funder requirements, procurement criteria, and Ampere’s strategic priorities.
  • Translate program concepts and technical information into clear, persuasive narratives, including project descriptions, implementation plans, timelines, deliverables, staffing approaches, and risk considerations.
  • Develop project budgets, budget justifications, and supporting materials in collaboration with finance and program teams.
  • Coordinate proposal development processes by gathering input from internal teams, managing timelines and reviews, and ensuring accurate, complete submissions.
  • Maintain proposal resources, templates, and records to strengthen organizational capacity and improve proposal development practices.
