About The Position

Directs production and distribution operations for a plant or assigned territory of Heartland Co-op by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.

Requirements

• Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Knowledge of AS 400 accounting and inventory software.
• Must maintain valid driver’s license and insurability at all times.

Nice To Haves

• A weighing license and grain grading certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates production, distribution, maintenance, housekeeping and warehousing in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by Heartland Co-op, Location Manager and Regional Manager.
• Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in area.
• Develops plans and oversees operation for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
• Reviews expenses and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of location.
• Assists with preparation of accounting records (sales, inventory, prepay, and expenses) for the location.
• Recommends budgets to location manager.
• Must maintain valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times.
• Directly supervises employees in the location. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
