About The Position

Building Monitoring Services Ltd (BMS) is a specialist UK consultancy established in 1994, providing expert safety, compliance, and environmental monitoring services. They support organizations in managing risks related to water hygiene, Legionella, indoor air quality, closed water systems, and workplace environments. BMS is part of the Celnor Group, a UK-based environmental services group operating across the Testing, Inspection, Certification, and Compliance (TICC) landscape. This role involves carrying out water monitoring and supporting Legionella risk assessments across a varied portfolio of client properties. It is a hands-on, field-based role where you will visit different sites, conduct water monitoring, inspections, and surveys, while developing technical knowledge in water hygiene and building safety. Training and support will be provided to develop understanding of water systems, Legionella control, and industry guidance. As experience grows, responsibilities will increase to include report production, risk identification, and client service. The role primarily focuses on Legionella and water hygiene, with opportunities to develop skills in ventilation surveys and indoor air quality monitoring.

Requirements

• A graduate, ideally with a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Building Services, Engineering, Science or a related subject.
• Interested in developing a career in water hygiene, environmental monitoring, building safety and technical consultancy.
• A strong communicator with good attention to detail and the ability to produce clear and accurate written information.
• Organised, self-motivated and comfortable working independently, travelling regularly to different client sites.
• A full driving licence is essential.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in water monitoring, Legionella or water treatment would be beneficial but is not essential, as full training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine water monitoring, including temperature checks, tank inspections, sampling and verification of remedial works.
• Assist with Legionella risk assessments and site surveys, developing knowledge of ACOP L8 and HSG274 guidance.
• Assist with producing clear, accurate reports, site records and schematic drawings of water systems.
• Identify potential risks and, with training and support, recommend appropriate remedial actions.
• Manage workload effectively, communicate with clients and site teams, and maintain a high standard of professional service.
• Support additional services such as ventilation surveys and indoor air quality monitoring following appropriate training, including occasional overnight stays where required.
