About The Position

The Graduate Student Coordinator participates in the development, implementation, and administrative oversight of graduate programs for the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering. The Coordinator advises graduate students, works with Graduate Admissions to evaluate applications for graduate programs, and analyzes graduate student data to streamline processes in recruitment, program improvement, retention, enrollment management, and timely graduation. Supports graduate students from admission to graduation through program administration, student engagement, and process support. FGCU is building a culture of curiosity, commitment and collaboration. Requirements

  • This position requires either six years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Education, Science, Engineering, or a closely related field and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Experience in customer service or related field.
  • Experience with personal computers using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Knowledge of the needs of students in transition, and the core elements of successful orientation programs.
  • Knowledge of FERPA regulations for handling student records.
  • Knowledge of University programs and policies and Florida State Board of Education policies and rules.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn student information systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively manage the work of others by providing information, guidance and motivation.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates admissions applications and provides guidance in course selection, degree planning, and graduation requirements.
  • Develops and implements programs to enhance and provide opportunities for students to engage in campus programming activities.
  • Works collaboratively with administrators in the development, implementation, documentation, and enforcement of program policies and procedures.
  • Creates and implements evaluations, assessment, and student retention and engagement strategic goals to assess and report growth and effectiveness of the student programs to supervisor and appropriate stakeholders.
  • Aids graduation goals by conducting regular degree progression audits to ensure students are tracking to meet goals.
  • Creates and maintains databases and manages and analyzes graduate program data.
  • Advises and collaborates with campus partners to provide students with resources, support, referral, and advocacy.
  • Evaluates tuition waivers and graduate assistantship applications
  • Monitors and complies with all fiscal expenditures and guidelines in accordance with university policies and procedures for tuition waivers and graduate assistantships
  • Develops, administers and analyzes continuous assessment of programs.
  • Prepares and evaluates statistical, analytical, and narrative reports to be used for decision making, program improvement, and program accreditation and/or review.
  • Participates in outreach events that support graduate student recruitment, retention, and engagement aligning with strategic goals.
  • Serves on the College of Engineering Graduate Committee and arranges regular meetings in collaboration with the committee members and relevant department chairs.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates OPS and part-time student employees.
  • Maintains work schedules, timesheets, and payroll action forms.
  • Updates the Director and the Department Chairs on any new university policies that impact the graduate programs within the College of Engineering.
  • Attends the University Graduate Committees as representative of the College of Engineering.
  • Ensures that program competencies and learning outcomes are incorporated into all programming.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
