About The Position

Mayo Clinic seeks applicants for a one- or two-year post-baccalaureate research experience in empirical biomedical ethics. The appointment is intended for individuals with a bachelor's degree who are interested in studying bioethics using empirical methods, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, and chart review. Participants apply skills in science, technology, engineering, or math to biomedical research and may participate in selected graduate classes and seminars. The Biomedical Ethics GRA program supplements research work with weekly seminars, optional graduate courses, and optional clinical shadowing opportunities. The experience is intended to help participants explore careers related to biomedical ethics and prepare for the next step in their careers. Past trainees have gone on to graduate, medical, and law schools across the United States. One or two candidates will begin in Summer 2027. The appointment ends one or two years after the start date, with a preference for a two-year appointment.
