About The Position

The Graduate Program Student Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations and promotional efforts of the School of Communication’s Graduate Programs. Under the direction of the Graduate Program Coordinator, this individual will assist in recruitment initiatives, social media content creation, and general administrative office support. This is an excellent opportunity for a student looking to gain hands-on professional experience in higher education administration and marketing/communications.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Represent the School of Communication Graduate Programs at Chapman University events, fairs, and campus activities through tabling and promotional efforts
  • Visit undergraduate classes to speak about graduate program offerings, admissions requirements, and opportunities within the SOC
  • Serve as an enthusiastic and knowledgeable ambassador for the Graduate Programs to prospective students, faculty, and staff
  • Assist in the planning and execution of recruitment events, open houses, and information sessions
  • Engage with prospective students via email or in person to answer general questions and direct them to appropriate resources
  • Assist in developing and executing social media campaigns across platforms (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook) to promote SOC Graduate Programs
  • Create engaging and visually appealing content, including but not limited to: Infographics, Day in the Life videos, Student and faculty interviews, Program highlight reels and stories, Event recaps and announcements
  • Help maintain a consistent posting schedule across all platforms
  • Collaborate with the Graduate Program team on content planning and campaign strategy
  • Assist with daily office operations, including copying, printing, scanning, and filing documents
  • Prepare and process mailings, including prospective student outreach materials and program correspondence
  • Assist in drafting and proofreading emails, newsletters, flyers, and other communications
  • Help update and maintain program-related databases and contact lists
  • Support the coordination of Graduate Program events
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Or Initiative program, housed within the School of Communication
  • Process expense reports utilizing Concur expense management software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
  • Coordinate scheduling, including meetings and appointments
  • Support events, including logistical preparation, as well as assist with marketing and communications efforts such as copy editing and content review
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Graduate Program Coordinator, Dean, or Director of Graduate Programs
