About The Position

Teach in an innovative evidence-based graduate program with emphasis in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. Teach in other graduate nursing core courses (e.g. quality improvement, informatics, health assessment, evidence-based practice) and interprofessional courses commensurate with department needs. Maintain national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner and licensure as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the State of Minnesota. Maintain immunizations and background study clearance and other requirements of the department and college. Willingness to embrace new educational and patient technologies; provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities. Contribute to student learning and development and chairing or serving on master’s scholarly paper or Doctor of Nursing Practice Project committees. Work effectively with health care industry and community affiliates to address graduate nursing education, research, and practice issues. Assist with Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education accreditation processes, program development and growth, program assessment, program evaluation, and curriculum design and delivery. Practice effectively through collaboration with other professionals in the health care industry and the community. Foster cultural intelligence, inclusive excellence, equity, and global involvement through authentic and professional relationships. Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs. Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field. Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities. Contribute to student growth and development including student advising. Provide service to the university and community including the program, the department, the college, the university, and the greater community. Requirements

  • Licensed as a registered nurse with current registration, or eligible for licensure, in Minnesota and Wisconsin and licensed as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), or eligible for APRN licensure by the start date of the appointment, in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
  • Earned doctorate in nursing or related field awarded prior to first duty day.
  • Nationally certified as a family nurse practitioner.
  • Satisfactory background study clearance as required by Minnesota statutes.
  • Evidence of clinical experience as a family nurse practitioner.
  • Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills including verbal, nonverbal and written methods.
  • Evidence of formal or informal teaching in the academic, practice or community setting.
  • Ability to teach in both specialty and core courses that cross programs.
  • Health care provider CPR certification.
  • Documentation of current immunizations, including influenza, and other verifications required for the department or those required by clinical agencies.

  • Demonstrated evidence of clinical scholarship, research, or creative achievement.
