About The Position

This is a full-time, 36-hour per week position in Labor and Delivery, requiring 3x12 hour shifts with rotating call. The role involves assisting direct caregivers in patient care, including assessment, planning, diagnosis, implementation, evaluation, and modification of nursing care. Graduate Nurses will report patient status to a registered nurse and participate with other disciplines in patient care planning. They will perform procedures under the direction of a licensed caregiver, assist with preparing patients for examinations and procedures, and participate in unit or facility shared leadership. All functions must be performed according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and professional standards, ensuring an excellent service experience for all customers.

Requirements

  • Must have graduated from an accredited nursing program and be eligible for NCLEX-RN licensure exam.
  • Must complete the NCLEX-RN exam within twelve weeks of start date.
  • Must have successfully passed NCLEX-RN exam within six month provisional window.
  • Must possess a valid current or temporary Alaska RN license.
  • Requires the knowledge and skills normally demonstrated by an Associate’s degree in nursing.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Requires creative thinking, prioritizing, and flexible problem solving skills.
  • Requires the ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written forms.
  • Minimum 2 year commitment required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
  • May require ACLS, PALS, or additional certification and/or continuing education based on area of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Assists direct caregiver in the assessment, planning, diagnosis, implementation, evaluation and modification of nursing care.
  • Reports patient status to a registered nurse.
  • Participates with other disciplines in the planning, implementation, evaluation and modification of nursing care and provides patient care utilizing skills for which competency has been established.
  • Performs procedures under the direction of a licensed caregiver for which competency has been established.
  • Assists with preparing patients for examination and procedures.
  • Participates in unit or facility shared leadership.
  • Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
