About The Position

This 12-month Graduate Nurse Rotational Program is designed for nursing school graduates (December 2026) to launch their careers. The program involves rotating through various divisions within UPMC Presbyterian, including medicine, cardiology, neurosurgery, trauma, and surgical patient populations. Each rotation is supported by a preceptor and frequent check-ins with nursing leaders. The program aims to build a foundation of nursing skills and prepare participants for potential travel nursing roles. Early-exit opportunities for permanent placement may be available. UPMC Presbyterian is a renowned teaching hospital and Magnet-designated facility known for excellence in organ transplantation, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, critical care medicine, trauma services, and neurosurgery. It also serves as a Level I Regional Resource Trauma Center and a leader in research and innovation.

Requirements

  • Graduating in December 2026 from nursing school.
  • Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse required prior to program start date OR must have a Temporary Practice Permit and commit to taking the NCLEX examination with six months of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills needed to provide care and interact with all ages of patients.
  • Understand the principles of growth and development over the lifespan.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN Preferred.
  • Completion of UPMC Student Nurse Internship Program or student clinical transitions course at UPMC preferred.
