About The Position

The Saint Francis Hospital New Graduate RN Residency Program is designed for soon-to-be and newly licensed RNs to build a strong clinical foundation, gain real-world experience, and grow alongside other new nurses. The program offers hands-on preceptorship from experienced nurse mentors, NCLEX test preparation and reimbursement, professional growth and development opportunities, and a supportive cohort environment within a culture of compassion, teamwork, and growth.

Requirements

  • Must be graduating within the next 6 months or have obtained RN licensure within the last 6 months.
  • Must have successfully passed the NCLEX prior to the start date in the program.
  • Graduated from a state-approved school of nursing or an accredited school.
  • Commitment to the established scheduling structure of the Graduate Nurse Residency Program.
  • Ability to meet and maintain mandatory scheduling expectations, including three 12-hour shifts per week, rotating weekends, and potential additional shifts/holidays.
  • Mandatory participation in all residency sessions (weekly during orientation, monthly for 9 months post-orientation).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Recent acute care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the Nurse Residency Program.
  • Attend residency classes once per week during the initial 8-week orientation period.
  • Continue participating in monthly residency sessions for the next 9 months following orientation.
  • Mirror the assigned preceptor's schedule during floor orientation, including shift times and weekends.
  • Be flexible with scheduling during the orientation period to ensure successful clinical integration and competency development.
  • Transition to a monthly self-scheduling process after completing floor orientation, with final schedules subject to departmental staffing needs.
  • Work three (3) 12-hour shifts per week.
  • Work rotating weekends.
  • Be available for additional shifts, holidays, and schedule adjustments as required by departmental needs.
