About The Position

The Texas Health Graduate Nurse Residency Program is a comprehensive, evidence-based onboarding program designed for new graduate RNs. It offers a 15-month employment commitment to help residents gain the experience, judgment, skills, and confidence needed to navigate complex hospital environments. The program includes a guided clinical experience with an instructor-led core curriculum, a formal mentoring program, debriefing/self-care sessions, and supportive 360-degree evaluations. Residents will work on their selected home units and also rotate through other departments for expanded nursing experience.

Requirements

ADN (Associates Nursing Degree) required upon hire.
Current RN licensure (Texas or Compact State).
Boards MUST be passed and results verified by noon the Wednesday prior to start date.
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred.
Graduated within the last 12 months preferred.
Less than one year experience at the time the residency begins preferred.
Have not previously completed a THR nursing residency preferred.

Responsibilities

Participate in the learning experience on personally selected home units.
Rotate/cross train through other departments to gain expanded nursing experience.
Provide patient care on a 28-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit with Neuro overflow.
Manage patients with conditions such as COPD, diabetic complications, amputations, infections/wounds, Sepsis, Trachs, Chest tubes, fresh amputations/colostomies/I&Ds, GI Bleeds, and Failure to Thrive.
Utilize one negative pressure room for TB and other airborne precautions.
Work collaboratively with LVNs on the unit.
