Graduate Nurse/Registered Nurse – IMC
About The Position
This position reports to the Director and requires a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide bedside care to a diverse and acutely ill patient population in the Acute IMC Unit. The RN will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care for individuals with various health conditions. The unit is a 30-bed facility caring for high-acuity patients with complex specialties and comorbidities, often requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring and/or mechanical ventilator support. The unit is equipped with negative pressure rooms and patient lift assist equipment. An on-site Nurse educator and an Acute/Critical Care course are available for nurses new to acute, in-patient care.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred).
- Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
- At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting.
- Superb interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities.
- Competency in electronic patient management systems.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
- Communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of patients.
- Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
- Administer medications to patients, provide education, and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
- Assess, monitor, report, and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
- Design, implement, and evaluate patient nursing care plans with the healthcare team.
- Educate patients and families throughout their stay and in preparation for discharge.
