About The Position

Provides temporary practice, pending results of the licensing examination for a period not to exceed 90 calendar days after the date of graduation. This temporary practice privilege automatically ceases upon notification that the graduate nurse has failed the licensure examination or once the 90 days after the date of graduation has passed and required licensing is still pending. Under the direction and general supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse, the Graduate Nurse utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, policies and procedures of the hospital. The Graduate Nurse participates in developing a plan of care, which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural and educational needs of the patient and family.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Application to sit for CT RN license must be completed and licensing obtained within 90 calendar days of graduation date
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date
  • Must be able to effectively communicate information in English

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred
  • Ability to speak another language in addition to English a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care under the direct observation of a licensed registered nurse and in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to provide a plan of care for patients according to their physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural and educational needs of the patient and family.
  • Provides holistic patient centered care.
  • Utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the hospitals policies and procedures to provide safe quality care and customer service.
  • Incorporates the art, advocacy, science and ethics in nursing effectively in their daily practice.
  • Evaluates and appropriately revises the plan of care according to the patient and family needs on a continual basis.
  • Learns to identify and reliably documents problems and expected outcomes based on a plan of care for complex, multi-varianced population of patients.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Assumes responsibility for self-improvement in collaboration with the leadership team by identifying, communicating and seeking resources or instruction/validation to meet own learning needs, and is self-directed in maintaining currency of validations.
  • Embodies the HHC leadership behaviors and effectively utilizes the HHC operating model.
  • Enrolls and actively participates in the Nurse Residency Program.
  • Engages in activities that promote a transition into practice.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
