About The Position

This Nurse Residency position is for those graduating with their RN prior to September or licensed RNs with little to no experience. The program offers opportunities in various units including Adult Critical Care Internship, Intermediate Critical Care, Family Birth Center (Labor & Deliver), and Neonatal ICU. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Valid Texas GN Permit or newly licensed RN with no experience
  • BSN required or must be obtained within 3 years of hire
  • Must maintain a current BLS & ACLS certification from American Heart Association

Responsibilities

  • Train in a variety of critical care units (Burn ICU, Cardiovascular ICU, Medical ICU, Neuro ICU, Trauma/Surgical ICU) during the Adult Critical Care Internship.
  • Gain exposure to both the Medical-Surgical Intermediate Critical Care Unit (MSICCU) and the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) during the Intermediate Critical Care Orientation Rotation.
  • Care for a diverse patient population in the Intermediate Critical Care unit, including neurological, medical, advanced pulmonary, surgical, trauma, orthopedic, gastrointestinal, metabolic patients, and those requiring continuous cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Provide care in the Family Birth Center, including antepartum care, intrapartum care/labor support, electronic fetal monitoring, neonatal resuscitation, breastfeeding management/support, newborn assessment/care, and OR/PACU nursing.
  • Care for premature infants, and patients with various acute and chronic disease processes, as well as pediatric surgeries in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
  • Participate in the NICU/Pediatric transport team, which transports neonates/infants from a 350-mile radius.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and specialists in the NICU.
  • Adhere to the highest evidence-based quality standards in a family-centered environment.
