About The Position

Join an award-winning team at Knapp Medical Center, a not-for-profit hospital in Weslaco, Texas, specializing in various medical services and serving as a Level III Trauma Center, Advanced Primary Stroke Center, and Level II Newborn Nursery. The Program Coordinator, under the oversight and direction from the Program Director/DIO/Administrative Director of Medical Education (ADME), is responsible for the operational and financial management of the residency/fellowship training program and provides support for the Program Director and Residents. This role requires a comprehensive and detailed understanding of ACGME or other national accreditation policies and hospital policies, along with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment. The Program Coordinator will continuously assess and direct a wide range of programmatic issues, including long-range planning, recruiting trainees, developing projects, maintaining databases, communicating with faculty and trainees regarding a range of issues, and managing internal and external program relations. As a member of the education design and leadership of the residency program, the Program Coordinator is ultimately responsible for the residents within the program. This is a professional position requiring total professional behavior, with all communication and correspondence directed to the Program Director and DIO as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to efficiently and accurately manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to work independently, with limited guidance.
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with absolute confidentiality.
  • Working knowledge of software applications including Microsoft suite, ERAS, NRMP, New Innovations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operational and financial management of the residency/fellowship training program and support for the Program Director and Residents.
  • Continually assess and direct a wide range of programmatic issues including long range planning, recruiting trainees, developing projects, maintaining databases, communicating with faculty and trainees regarding a range of issues, and managing internal and external program relations.
  • Member of the education design and leadership of the residency program, therefore, ultimately responsible for the residents within the program.
