About The Position

Knapp Medical Center, an award-winning, not-for-profit hospital in Weslaco, Texas, is seeking a Graduate Medical Education Coordinator for its Residency Program. Knapp Medical Center is a 227-bed community hospital specializing in emergency care, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, wound care, surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, critical care, and interventional radiology. It serves as the only acute care hospital in the Mid-Valley area, as well as Weslaco's only Level III Trauma Center, Advanced Primary Stroke Center, and Level II Newborn Nursery. With over 300 physicians and employing more than 450 people, Knapp has been providing quality and compassionate healthcare to Mid-Valley residents for 60 years. The Program Coordinator, with oversight and direction from the Program Director/DIO/Administrative Director of Medical Education (ADME), is responsible for the operational and financial management of the residency/fellowship training program and provides support for the Program Director and Residents. This professional position requires a comprehensive and detailed understanding of ACGME or other national accreditation policies and hospital policies, as well as a high degree of initiative and independent judgment. The Program Coordinator will continually assess and direct a wide range of programmatic issues including long range planning, recruiting trainees, developing projects, maintaining databases, communicating with faculty and trainees regarding a range of issues, and managing internal and external program relations. The Program Coordinator is a member of the education design and leadership of the residency program, and is ultimately responsible for the residents within the program. Total professional behavior is a requirement for this position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to efficiently and accurately manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to work independently, with limited guidance.
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with absolute confidentiality.
  • Working knowledge of software applications including Microsoft suite, ERAS, NRMP, New Innovations.
  • Comprehensive and detailed understanding of ACGME or other national accreditation policies and hospital policies.
  • High degree of initiative and independent judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities
