About The Position

Pennoni is hiring for a full-time Graduate Environmental Scientist/Industrial Hygienist to join our EHS (Environmental, Health, & Safety) team in our New York, NY office. This role involves contributing to EHS projects such as Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, asbestos surveys, lead-based paint (LBP) surveys, mold assessments, and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) assessments. The position requires assisting with inspections, remediation oversight, laboratory data interpretation, post-remediation clearances, and report preparation. The role also involves working independently on assigned projects in New York, NY and surrounding areas, which may occasionally require working during evenings, weekends, and/or extended stay travel. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (or higher) in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, EHS, Safety Management, Environmental Science, or a related field of study (recent graduates are encouraged to apply!).
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • This job role will involve splitting time between the office and time in the field.

Nice To Haves

  • Asbestos Inspector New York State license (and/or EPA training).
  • Asbestos Project Monitor New York State license.
  • Lead Inspector New Jersey license (and/or EPA training).
  • Experience working with field-based testing & sampling at client sites.
  • Experience working in construction.
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to adapt / desire to learn new things while on the job.
  • Strong attention-to-detail skills with the proven ability to work with a high-level of accuracy & precision, especially while following established procedures as-written.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner while displaying excellent time management skills (effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written). This person will be expected to maintain field notes that are legible, accurate, and detailed.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to EHS projects associated with Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, asbestos surveys, lead-based paint (LBP) surveys, mold assessments, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) assessments, and related projects.
  • Assist with inspections, remediation oversight, laboratory data interpretation, post-remediation clearances, and preparation of inspection and remediation oversight reports.
  • Work independently on assigned projects in New York, NY and the surrounding areas. These projects occasionally require working during evenings, weekends, and/or extended stay travel.
  • Additional duties may be assigned, as needed.
