About The Position

As an Entry Level Structural Engineer at Black & Veatch, you will play a meaningful role in addressing some of the world’s most critical infrastructure challenges. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to diverse, impactful projects that support clients’ goals while fostering professional growth and advancing the success of Black & Veatch. Chosen candidates will be located in/or relocate to Overland Park (KS). Black & Veatch’s EDGE Program is a multi-year rotational experience designed to accelerate early-career growth. Participants rotate through 3–4 roles across different business areas - including one field assignment - to gain a full view of the project lifecycle. It’s a launchpad for future leaders looking to explore career paths, gain hands-on experience, and learn directly from senior mentors. With quarterly development sessions focused on leadership and innovation, you’ll build a strong foundation for long-term success.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing
  • Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search)

Responsibilities

  • Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black and Veatch policies and procedures
  • Develops an understanding and complies with the Black and Veatch quality program
  • Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts
  • Contributes to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope
  • Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection
  • Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work
  • Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis
  • Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements
  • Shares information with others as requested
  • Coordinates with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership
  • Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers
  • May provide support to business development or pursuit activities
  • Shares current knowledge of latest technology and processes
