About The Position

The Graduate Engineer I in the Development Department is responsible for assisting in the planning, researching, preparation, and the execution of SAWS Utility Service Agreements. This role involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting engineering, operations, modeling, and maintenance data to define preliminary scopes and requirements for Developer projects through Utility Service Agreements (USAs). The position requires reviewing plans, specifications, and reports; evaluating engineering reports and proposals; making recommendations; and participating in negotiations to ensure Developer projects comply with SAWS Utility Service Regulations (USRs). The Graduate Engineer I will apply engineering principles, including water and wastewater engineering, construction practices, surveying, and problem-solving, to assist in developing engineering solutions for USAs. Additionally, the role involves interpreting and applying city ordinances, state, and federal regulations, SAWS specifications, and related standards to USAs. The position operates under general supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field from an institution accredited by a recognized accrediting agency.
  • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
  • Able to use word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
