About The Position

In this role, you will support and contribute to Federal electronic security projects while developing your technical skills. Working under close supervision, you will assist with the design and documentation of electronic security systems and coordinate with project team members across disciplines. This role is intended for early-career engineers (new graduates) and offers training, mentorship, and increasing responsibility over time.

Requirements

  • Assigned to projects for U.S. Government Agency/Department clients. Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with security design solutions for federal facilities inclusive of MILCON facilities such as headquarters, data centers, equipment maintenance facilities, hangars, housing, training centers, etc. as well as intelligence/command centers, generation stations, high-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) protected facilities, secure compartmented information facilities (SCIF) designs, laboratories, aviation facilities and other types of federal facilities.
  • Support the design of security systems with components such as electronic access control, intrusion detection/alarming, perimeter barrier controls, video surveillance/CCTV, etc.
  • Prepare and support the development of design drawings, security system specifications, and basis of design (or design analysis) documents with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Support development of cost estimates and materials list. Coordinate with BIM/CAD team for drawing production, utilizing Bluebeam for drawing markups.
  • Utilize Revit to view modeling or support the production of security design drawings, as applicable. Support the production of project basis of design report and technical specifications, using Microsoft Word and/or Bluebeam markups.
  • Collaborate with project team members and selected client stakeholders on conceptual design, progressive design development, technical coordination, QA/QC process, and client design reviews.
  • Travel to project sites (primarily domestic) may be required to collect field data and/or attend meetings.
  • Incorporate feedback from senior engineers into design drawings and documents, and coordinate updates to client deliverables to ensure accuracy, clarity, and interdisciplinary alignment.
  • Support internal and external project meetings and, as appropriate, participate in discussions with client stakeholders on technical aspects of security systems.
  • Understand and adhere to assigned project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements; support task planning and coordination activities as directed.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating quality/engineering standards.
  • Provide support to business development or new project pursuit activities.
  • Research and learn about security system software, hardware, vendors, and related technologies; may attend related conferences or trainings to support professional development and business needs.
  • Professional development such as pursuit of industry related licenses or certifications, such as ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certificate, Professional Engineer, etc.
