About The Position

Intertek is seeking a Graduate Engineering – CMT & Geotechnical to join their Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Waukesha, WI. Intertek-PSI is a leading provider of construction assurance, testing, and inspection in civil and commercial construction, with services including construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing. The Graduate Engineer – CMT & Geotechnical will perform various testing, project-specific observations, and site assessment duties under supervision and following controlled procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited/ABET school.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication.
  • Must be able to read and understand work plans.
  • Must be able to work off shifts and overtime.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record.
  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication (hearing) and to make discriminations in sound.
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold).
  • Ability to climb occasionally.
  • May travel up to 15% of time.
  • Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • EIT certification or the ability to obtain within one year of date of employment.
  • The ability to read and understand work plans.
  • Experience performing field and/or laboratory construction materials testing.
  • ACI/ICC/WisDOT certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performing observations and testing of construction materials such as soils, concrete, masonry, reinforcing steel placement, fireproofing and asphalt.
  • Operating testing equipment and conducting tests (e.g., Soil, concrete), and providing data assessment through reporting.
  • Performing field and laboratory testing of soil samples and concrete specimens.
  • Preparing and reviewing Engineering reports, project plans, and specifications prepared by others.
  • Preparing scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments; may assign work to others.
  • Preparing proposals to provide professional services and reviewing recommendations with Principal Consultant.
  • Attending client site meetings, maintaining and leveraging client relationships, and developing new project opportunities.
  • Training technicians and field staff.
  • Adhering to safety practices and policies.
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment and performing site clean-up.
  • Interfacing with contractors and clients.
