About The Position

Pennoni is hiring for a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our MEP team on a full-time, direct basis at our office in New York, NY. In this role, you’ll design electrical power systems for newly constructed, renovated or retrofitted buildings across New York City and beyond. Your goal in working with a team of engineers and subconsultants will be to maximize energy efficiency while optimizing atmosphere for occupants in skyscrapers, hospitals, residences, schools and all building types that make up our habitats.

  • FE / EIT is preferred.
  • Critical thinkers who have creative problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification are a plus
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment supporting multiple concurrent projects, with strong self-motivation and effective prioritization of tasks and deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to team members, clients, and project stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Assist with design of normal & emergency systems (i.e.: power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems) for various applications under supervision of senior-level Design team members.
  • Perform engineering calculations (i.e.: power demand, voltage drop, and lighting photometry calculations).
  • Develop detailed electrical system schematics; this includes performing analytical circuit functionality and making any necessary system modifications required to meet project specifications.
  • Support overall electrical systems development as well as build support.
  • Coordinate with internal & external Design team members to ensure constructability of building systems.
  • Interpret / apply knowledge of MEP-related standard codes & guidelines (e.g.: NFPA, NEC, etc.) as well as construction code requirements.
  • Review submittals and shop drawings under supervision of senior-level Design team members.
  • Perform project site surveys, punch-lists, and design reviews.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of project and team needs
