About The Position

The Cross Cultural Center (CCC) is seeking a talented Graduate Assistant to help enhance the services and support provided to Chapman University students. This role involves general administrative and programming support, informing students about available resources, and assisting with programs, events, and special initiatives. The goal is to foster a sense of belonging, community, and appreciation for diversity, creating a welcoming and inclusive campus environment. The Graduate Assistant will also ensure the facility operations are organized and meet evolving student needs.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate program at Chapman University.
  • Experience working with diverse and inclusive initiatives in an academic, professional, or student organization/population setting.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a professional office environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and supporting programs, events, and special initiatives that advance Chapman University’s efforts towards creating welcoming and inclusive learning environments.
  • Attend and participate in university-wide events, trainings, and workshops.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and collaborations of CCC and campus-wide programming, including presentations, trainings, academic workshops, and celebrations for identity/cultural national heritage/history months (e.g., LGBTQIA+, Black Native, APIDA, Women’s, Latinx), and other engagement/social events.
  • Assist full-time staff in overseeing Student Assistants and promoting programs and services.
  • Provide support for activities and events taking place in the facility, ensuring compliance with university policy.
  • Support colleagues across campus (e.g., Student Affairs, Academic Affairs) to encourage the implementation of institutional goals and strategic priorities.
  • Facilitate small group meetings as needed.
  • Facilitate presentations requiring public speaking.
  • Create and facilitate innovative programs.
  • Serve as the office liaison for designated student clubs and organizations and on-campus events.
  • Participate in recruitment and yielding events in collaboration with the Office of Admissions.
  • Assist with the Office of First Gen & Promising Futures Programs and Early Outreach Initiatives by leading campus tours, participating in student panels, and inspiring K-12 students to pursue higher education.
  • Conduct literature reviews and basic information/data collection on research surrounding historically underrepresented students in higher education.
  • Develop and disseminate marketing materials for the CCC via Carousel, Panther Connect, and Instagram.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
