About The Position

The Graduate Teaching Assistant supports faculty in maintaining and stocking the laboratory, delivering pharmaceutics compounding laboratory instruction, facilitates student learning, ensures compliance with laboratory standards, and assists with course-related activities. The student employee will perform most or all job duties at FWSOP – Congdon Building. Work hours may vary depending on departmental needs; however, student employees are limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week. This position requires up to 15 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in the HPU PharmD Program
  • Strong background in pharmaceutics and/or compounding
  • Effective communication and organizational skills

  • Teaching support skills: Ability to explain concepts clearly and assist students with hands-on techniques
  • Organization & time management: Ability to manage lab preparation, workflow, and multiple tasks efficiently
  • Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot formulation issues and student questions in real time
  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with faculty and other teaching assistants

Responsibilities

  • Assist faculty in lab preparation, instruction, and supervision of compounding activities
  • Support student skill development in dosage form preparation, calculations, and aseptic technique
  • Ensure adherence to safety and laboratory protocols
  • Prepare materials and maintain lab inventory and organization
