About The Position

Ottawa University is seeking a Graduate Assistant to assist with the day-to-day management of the Track & Field/Cross Country team. This role requires a commitment to Christian higher education and a servant leadership style. The position involves some night and weekend work. The Graduate Assistant will be granted a tuition waiver for 18 credit hours per year for one of Ottawa University's graduate programs, a partial meal allowance, and a bi-weekly living stipend paid over 12 months. Renewals for a second year are based on academic performance and quality of work. International candidates are only eligible for the on-campus MBA program and must secure an F1 student visa and meet international admissions criteria.

Requirements

• Must be accepted and enrolled in an Ottawa University graduate program
• Completed online admissions application
• Application fee
• Submission of official undergraduate transcripts (3.0 GPA – minimum requirement) earned bachelor’s degree
• Submission of a personal statement regarding career goals and three professional references
• Other items as identified by the specific academic program
• Completed employment application
• Cover letter and resume
• Eligible to work in the United States and present the proper documentation
• Knowledge of and experience in collegiate sports as an athlete and/or staff member
• Effective communication and motivational skills
• Positive role model for student-athletes, university personnel and members of the off-campus community
• Knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train and coach members of the athletic program
• Recruit, retain and graduate student-athletes who contribute to the success of the program and vibrancy of campus life
• Fund and friend raising for the advancement of the program
• Provide oversight of student-athletes academic progress toward degree completion
• Assist with any and all administrative duties as assigned
• Ensure adherence to the NAIA and rules and regulations including the NAIA Champions of Character 5 core values
• Provide leadership for campus involvement and community service
• Provide Christ-centered leadership and direction for the Men's and Women's Tennis Program
• Other duties as assigned
