About The Position

The Graduate Assistant Tennis position is designed to support the university's tennis program by providing coaching assistance, administrative support, and player development guidance. This role plays a critical part in enhancing the performance and experience of student-athletes through hands-on training, strategy implementation, and mentorship. The Graduate Assistant will collaborate closely with the head coach and athletic staff to organize practices, manage team logistics, and contribute to recruiting efforts. Additionally, this position offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in sports management and coaching within an educational environment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience playing competitive tennis at the collegiate or equivalent level.
  • Strong knowledge of tennis techniques, rules, and strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and communicate effectively with student-athletes and staff.
  • Eligibility to enroll in a graduate program at the employing institution.
  • Strong communication skills are essential for providing clear feedback, motivating athletes, and collaborating with coaching staff.
  • Organizational skills are used daily to manage schedules, coordinate travel, and maintain compliance documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous coaching or assistant coaching experience in tennis.
  • Background in sports science, kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with NCAA compliance and recruiting regulations.
  • Experience with video analysis and performance tracking software.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to mentor student-athletes.
  • Experience with video analysis tools enhance the ability to assess player performance and tailor training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily tennis practices and training sessions.
  • Provide individualized coaching and feedback to student-athletes to improve their technical skills and competitive performance.
  • Support the coordination of team travel, scheduling, and logistics for matches and tournaments.
  • Help with recruiting efforts by evaluating prospective student-athletes and communicating with recruits and their families.
  • Maintain accurate records of player progress, match statistics, and team compliance with NCAA and institutional regulations.
  • Contribute to the development of strength and conditioning programs tailored for tennis athletes.
  • Assist in organizing community outreach and promotional events to enhance the visibility of the tennis program.
