About The Position

McDaniel College is a four-year, independent college of the liberal arts and sciences offering over 100 undergraduate and graduate programs. Tuition remission only graduate assistants (TGAs) receive tuition remission in exchange for work performed. To receive (one) 3-credit hour graduate course for coursework that is not included in the Counselor Education program, the GA must work 125 hours per semester. To receive (one) 3-credit hour graduate course for coursework that is included in the Data Analytics and Counselor Education program, , the GA must work 140 hours per semester. This assistance involves the implementation of an academic plan that targets the student's academic, social, and emotional wellbeing. The GA reports directly to the Director of the Student Accessibility and Support Services Office. This position is a part-time position (8-24 hours per week). The Graduate Assistant works 8 hours a week in SASS to receive tuition remission for one 3 credit graduate course; more hours (8.75) required for Counselor Education degree. SASS will compensate up to three 3-credit graduate courses per semester.

Availability to work daytime and/or evenings.

Responsibilities

Hold weekly appointments with Academic Skills Program (ASP) and/or Basic Program students assisting with: Study skills, Time management/organizational skills, Written assignments, Test preparation, Academic project support
Assist in exam administration
Serve as a proctor
Read tests
Scribe tests/essays for students
Assure testing procedures are strictly followed
Assure the school honor code is strictly adhered to
Monitor testing center and student work room
Assist in mid-term and final testing week preparation
Deliver tests
Perform other duties as assigned
Assist with management of tutoring and note taking systems
Meet weekly with the Director
Assist Accommodations Administrative Assistant at front desk.
Provide front desk coverage when requested.
Create SASS display board and flyers
Facilitate evening study sessions
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
