About The Position

The University Libraries is looking for a Library Program Specialist GA position to help support open educational resources, along with other instructional areas. The Libraries lead efforts to promote open educational resources on campus, including administering a grant program for faculty and providing oversight of Pressbooks, an authoring and editing platform for open textbooks. Open educational resources, freely available teaching materials that are also licensed for reuse, help to keep college education more affordable. The position, which is part of the Research and Instructional Services Department in the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center, will provide support in other areas of instruction as well, such as with dual enrollment classes and AI literacy education. This appointment is for 20 hours/week for 10 months, from August through May. This position is approximately equivalent to teaching two face-to-face courses per semester.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled as a doctoral student at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Be active in a degree-seeking program
  • Have intermediate experience with Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience creating or editing educational materials, such as videos, online tutorials, handouts, etc.
  • Experience with WCAG and accessibility standards for online content
  • Experience using AI to responsibly assist in workflows while providing human oversight

Responsibilities

  • Format and edit content in the authoring platform Pressbooks for University faculty using open educational resources
  • Help promote the University Libraries’ efforts in open educational resources and other instructional areas, such as by creating outreach materials or assisting with events
  • Edit and create instructional materials about information literacy, AI literacy, and library research skills (e.g., videos, handouts, webpages, online modules)
  • Depending on the incumbent’s interests, assist with workshops and high school visits, provide research assistance to library users, and/or analyze assessment data
