About The Position

Graduate assistants for the data science program are expected to help their assigned faculty member with classroom support, labs, office hours, grading, meetings, and other duties as assigned. Graduate assistants are expected to attend and review all materials prior to class, and help the instructor as needed. Graduate assistants will be assigned office hours and are expected to be available during those designated times in order to help students as needed. The Graduate Assistant is expected to grade in accordance with the DASC assignment policy, submit and return graded work in a timely manner, answer student queries with regards to grades, and help the instructor maintain the course Blackboard page. Flexibility in academic course scheduling is required and is dependent on the faculty member in which you are supporting within the data science program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Admitted or currently a student at the University of Arkansas in either the College of Engineering, Sam M. Walton College of Business, or the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences
  • Must be in good academic & judicial standing with the University of Arkansas
  • Must have programming experience in Python and/or R
  • Must have previously completed Calculus I and/or Calculus II or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching or tutoring experience
  • Two or more years of programming experience in Python and/or R
  • Completed Calculus III, Linear Algebra, 3000-level or higher calculus-based statistics course or equivalent
  • Experience with software development version control systems such as GIT and GITHUB

Responsibilities
