About The Position

The Graduate Admissions Counselor independently manages assigned aspects of the Graduate Student Recruitment and Admissions process, from initial inquiry through enrollment. The position develops and executes recruitment and communication strategies; counsels’ prospective students; evaluates application readiness and progression; manages assigned recruitment initiatives; and analyzes Admissions and Enrollment information to advance institutional enrollment goals. The Graduate Admissions Counselor exercises independent judgment in managing prospective student relationships, prioritizing recruitment activities, resolving routine admissions matters, and determining appropriate actions within established institutional and program policies.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree, required
Ability to travel overnight (non-standard hours)
Ability to lift objects up to 40 pounds
Ability to effectively communicate with prospective students of diverse backgrounds and ages
Demonstrated skills in customer service, collaboration, planning, prioritization and organization
Valid Louisiana Driver’s License; If moving to Louisiana, Louisiana Driver’s License is required within 30 days of the start date

Responsibilities

Actively engages the Catholic and Franciscan mission and identity of Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University by modeling the Franciscan Values, promoting justice for the communities we serve, and integrating the Catholic and Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs and services
Independently manage an assigned portfolio of prospective and active Graduate applicants from inquiry through enrollment. Review applications for completeness and progression through the Admissions process
Evaluate submitted materials against established Program requirements; identify outstanding requirements; and exercise judgment in determining appropriate follow-up and next steps
Refer exceptions, complex eligibility questions, and matters requiring programmatic or policy interpretation to the Director of Graduate Admissions or appropriate Academic Program
Provide individualized guidance to prospective Graduate students throughout the Recruitment and Admissions process
Communicate Program requirement, Application procedures, deadlines, and next steps while helping prospective students navigate Admissions-related processes
Respond to inquiries and exercise professional judgment in resolving routine applicant concerns and identifying matters requiring escalation
Develop and execute assigned Recruitment and Outreach activities designed to increase prospective student engagement and application conversion
Conduct strategic outreach through phone, e-mail, SMS, virtual communication, and other approved communication channels
Prioritize follow-up activities based on applicant status, Recruitment goals, Program needs, and Enrollment timelines
Manage strategies to move prospective students through key stages of the Graduate Admissions Funnel, including inquiry-to-application, application-to-completion, admission-to-deposit, and deposit-to-enrollment
Monitor applicant progression and engagement, identify barriers affecting conversion, and implement appropriate Outreach strategies to improve Application completion and Enrollment outcomes
Pull, organize, review, and analyze Graduate Admissions and Enrollment information to monitor applicant activity, Recruitment outcomes, deposits, and Enrollment confirmations
Utilize institutional systems and available Customer Relationship Management (CRM) data to manage assigned recruitment activity and inform daily recruitment decisions
Collaborate with the Operations Team regarding Slate administration, programming, reporting and other technical requirements while independently utilizing available data to manage assigned Recruitment and Admissions responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and execute assigned Graduate Recruitment activities, including information sessions, Open Houses, recruitments events, and virtual engagement opportunities
Coordinate communications and prospective student follow-up before and after events and evaluate engagement outcomes to inform future recruitment efforts
Collaborate with Academic Program Leadership, Faculty, Marketing, Operations, and other institutional stakeholders to ensure prospective students receive accurate and timely information
Communicate emerging applicant trends, recruitment needs, and recurring barriers to the Director of Graduate Admissions and appropriate stakeholders
Identify opportunities to improve assigned Recruitment and Admissions processes, applicant communication, and prospective student engagement
Independently manage assigned projects and initiatives and recommend process improvements based on applicant feedback, recruitment outcomes, and observed operational needs
Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities consistent with the scope and purpose of the position and in support of institutional enrollment and strategic objectives
