About The Position

As a Potato Grader, you will play a key role in supporting raw material quality and production flow by ensuring incoming potato loads are accurately sampled, graded, and directed. This role requires attention to detail, strong teamwork, and a commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence within the potato house environment.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma or GED (considered an asset)
  • Previous experience as a Potato Grader or in a similar role (considered an asset)
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven reliability with excellent attendance and safety record
  • Ability to work rotating shifts
  • Physically capable of lifting approximately 25 lbs and performing manual tasks
  • Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals
  • Willingness to complete forklift training certification
  • Ability to adapt to changing operational needs in a professional manner
  • Successful completion of a 90-day training period

Responsibilities

  • Unload and sample incoming potato trucks and direct loads into appropriate bins
  • Ensure correct potato color and gravity specifications are followed during unloading
  • Collect approximately 25 lb samples from each truck load for grading purposes
  • Weigh, wash, and prepare samples while ensuring no materials are lost during processing
  • Deliver prepared samples to potato graders for evaluation
  • Maintain cleanliness and ensure proper operation of potato house equipment, walls, and doors
  • Accurately enter data into systems related to sampling and grading activities
  • Communicate effectively with the Shift Manager regarding raw material changes or concerns
  • Follow HACCP, GMP, and all safety protocols, including proper PPE use
  • Participate in team meetings and perform other duties as assigned
