About The Position

Overall Objective The Lead Extended Care Teacher works to support the mission of the school and provides after school program to the HVWS Grade school students.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children in Grades 1-8.
  • Reliable and conscientious worker.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Flexibility a must.
  • Ability to support parents with concerns.
  • Share and implement values of diversity, equity, and social justice in teaching practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Completed or started Waldorf Teacher Training.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth transition from school to Extended Care Program.
  • Keep accurate attendance records.
  • Coordinate with other After School Program Teachers for facility usage and transitioning students between the programs.
  • Supervise children in the extended care program at all times.
  • Take great care to provide a loving, secure and supportive space for the children.
  • Manage extended care program needs including supplies and budget.
  • Provide snack, games, and engaging activities.
  • Work with the children to foster a clean and tidy environment in the classroom, ensuring the facility is left ready for the next day.
  • Ensure a smooth transition from afternoon care to the late care program.
  • Coordinate with parents to ensure smooth pick-up procedures.
  • Limit cell phone usage to emergency purposes only.
  • Communicate questions, concerns, and observations to fellow extended care teacher(s) and/or class teachers as well as the Executive Director.
  • Commit to continuing education by attending lectures, workshops, conferences to deepen one’s understanding of Waldorf pedagogy when possible.
  • Participate in peer review, self-evaluations, and mentoring as listed in employment contract.
