Requirements

Previous experience in comic book grading or as a knowledgeable dealer/collector with a strong understanding of grading concepts.
Broad knowledge of comic books, including artists, publishers, variants, pedigrees, and market values.
Proven ability to work with precision and consistency in a production-based environment.
Strong observational and critical thinking skills for detecting subtle defects or authenticity issues.
Comfortable using computers and digital tracking systems.
Self-motivated, dependable, and committed to maintaining high standards of integrity.
High School Diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred. (e.g., History, Art History, or related fields)
Ability to visually inspect fine details, including color differentiation and depth perception, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to work on-site in Sarasota, FL, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

Authenticate and evaluate collectible comic books using CGC’s established grading standards.
Assign accurate numerical grades based on condition, rarity, and quality indicators.
Identify signs of restoration, alterations, or counterfeit attempts with precision.
Handle and store comics with care to maintain integrity and prevent damage.
Compare items against reference materials and escalate complex cases when necessary.
Record grading notes and item details accurately in internal systems.
Meet production and accuracy goals in a performance-driven environment.
Stay informed on grading trends, collector demand, and emerging restoration techniques.
Collaborate with peers and senior graders to ensure consistency and quality control.
Occasionally travel domestically or internationally for business functions and events.
