About The Position
The Hawaii State Department of Education is committed to hiring highly qualified teachers in every classroom. This position is for a Grade K-6 Teacher at Pearl City Highlands Elementary. If hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, candidates have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license and must enroll in a Program to continue employment. Within each year of employment, candidates must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB). It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure the program they enroll in is aligned with the teaching line they are hired in. Upon hire, a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit is required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (minimum qualification for teacher, librarian, or counselor positions, with exceptions for designated CTE positions)
- Must obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit upon hire.
- If hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, must obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license within a maximum of 3 years.
- Must enroll in a Program to continue employment if hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program.
- Must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements each year of employment.
- Must ensure the enrolled program is aligned with the teaching line hired in.
