About The Position

The Grade 3 Machinist position is an overtime-eligible, senior craft position that reports to the Machine Shop Management team. The Grade 3 Machinist is responsible for manufacturing parts that meet or exceeds Charm Sciences standards. These standards include a high-level of precision on all piece parts manufactured within the machine shop. Grade 3 Machinist is an A/R Class A Machinist.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years machining experience or combination of experience and technical school training.
  • Work between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, and available on some Saturdays as needed.
  • Must be able to perform highly technical and close tolerance work to engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions with Minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to program and operate PROTO-TRAK or equivalent Milling and Lathe machines with a minimal amount of supervision.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of tooling, fixtures, and machine setup to achieve quality precision machined components.
  • Must have the ability to determine the need for and fabricate jigs and tooling.
  • Full Knowledge of Blueprint interpretation and GD & T skilled.

Nice To Haves

  • Able to program Fadal and HAAS VMC from the Controller using CNC "G & M" codes.
  • Working experience with BOBCAM software
  • Knowledgeable in Solidworks
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate all manufacturing equipment with minimal supervision. Proto-Trak Millers and Proto-Trak Lathe, Surface Grinder, to fabricate tools, fixtures and Charm Sciences Products.
  • Determine machining operations, tool selections, setups and develop processes and procedures using Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Keep accurate records of work performance, processes and procedures, order of operations, tooling used for specific features, setup methods for each specific job.
  • Inspect and Document first piece, in process and final inspection and confirming other machinist’s first pieces.
  • Select and use all necessary measuring tools, conventional hand tools, gage pins, calipers, micrometers, depth gage, and B&S Micro-Hite 350.
  • Able to work from drawings, sketches, or verbal and written instructions.
  • Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language.
