The classroom teacher is responsible for administering and developing subject-specific assessments, advising parents on student progress, assessing student progress towards standards, and collaborating with instructional staff and parents to improve student outcomes. The role involves instructing students, managing student behavior to create a safe learning environment, and monitoring students in various educational settings. Additionally, the teacher participates in professional development, prepares written materials documenting student progress, reports incidents, and responds to emergency situations. The teacher also directs teacher assistants and other support staff, supports other teachers, and integrates technology into the curriculum. This position requires a Bachelor's degree with an endorsement in the grade/subject taught and a valid Tennessee certificate, and the individual must be highly qualified and physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities of the position.
