About The Position

General Stewart Elementary School is seeking a Grade 1 Teacher to join their team at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in student support and hold an unwavering belief that every child is a capable learner. The school serves approximately 100 students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 with one class at each grade level. The school's size is an asset, allowing for strong relationships among staff, students, parents, and community members who work together to provide the best possible education. Requirements

  • Possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • A deep understanding of early literacy and numeracy best practices.
  • Experience teaching in division one.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Strong understanding of supporting students with complex needs.
  • A police information check, including Vulnerable Sector Check, with no charges or convictions.
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
  • Proof of photo identification (valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card, valid passport, or Nexus card).
  • Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name.
