About The Position

West Coulee Station Elementary School is seeking a Grade 1 Teacher to join their team for the 2026-27 school year. The ideal candidate is a student-centered educator who brings energy, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit to everything they do. They will be committed to creating engaging and inclusive learning environments that inspire curiosity and a love of learning. The school, located in Garry Station and home of the Spanish Bilingual program, serves approximately 500 students from kindergarten to grade 5. West Coulee Station Elementary School provides a large welcoming space for all students for instructional and performance activities. At West Coulee Station Elementary School, we prioritize the development of essential traits in our students, emphasizing the values of Patience, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Empathy, collectively known as “The PRIDE.” These core values are integral to our educational philosophy, fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment for all learners. Garry Station is one of the newer areas in West Lethbridge, established in 2012, and continues to grow and develop, welcoming all families.

Requirements

  • Possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of teaching context and contributing variables.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of subject disciplines taught and pedagogical approaches based on best practice.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of planning, assessment and instructional practices.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of classroom management strategies that contribute to a positive learning environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use technology in meaningful ways for teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrate qualities of a reflective practitioner.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the school community with respect to professional relationships.
