GPF Compliance Manager
About The Position
The Genentech Patient Foundation (GPF) Compliance Manager will act as a guardian of GPF’s independent, non-profit 501c3 status, shaping, leading, and executing key elements of the Foundation Audit and Compliance Program. This role involves owning the planning, execution, and delivery of complex compliance audits and compliance monitoring initiatives to ensure non-profit integrity and sustainability. The manager will leverage technology, digital solutions, and automations to streamline audit activities and day-to-day inquiries. Responsibilities include providing compliance oversight of corrective action plans, auditing activities conducted by Forms Validity SMEs and Foundation Navigators, and monitoring outsourced programs. The role requires partnering cross-functionally with Legal, Healthcare Compliance Office (HCO), Patient Experience, and Field teams to mitigate operational risks and investigate compliance concerns. Additionally, the manager will own, review, and simplify process documents (SOPs, policies), architect and drive the GPF training strategy, and serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Compliance for Foundation Specialists in designated domains such as Patient Assistance Diversion, CMS Reporting, and Product Billing Remediations. The role also involves leading informal cross-functional teams to foster a compliance mindset and coaching Foundation Navigators and internal stakeholder teams to heighten compliance awareness while protecting the independent nature and sustainability of the Foundation program.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required (in life sciences, law, public policy, business, or related discipline).
- 4+ years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical or related biotech industry.
- 3+ years of direct work experience in auditing, compliance, consulting, legal, or investigations.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance frameworks, including Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS), Fraud and Abuse laws, and OIG guidance.
- Proven ability to gather data, assess trends, identify root causes, and utilize database reporting capabilities to build targeted audit strategies.
- Proven track record of effective decision-making with minimal supervision and influencing without authority, managing conflict, and negotiating with stakeholders.
- Highly adept at synthesizing complex content into clear, actionable communications for various levels of management.
Nice To Haves
- Graduate-level Degree (JD, MBA) or Professional Compliance Certification (Certified in Healthcare Compliance - CHC, or Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional - CCEP).
- Direct experience in operational quality excellence, customer contact organizations, or healthcare reimbursement environments.
- Proven track record of leveraging technology/automation tools to optimize audit workflows and presenting complex risk assessments to management.
Responsibilities
- Own the planning, execution, and delivery of complex compliance audits and compliance monitoring initiatives within assigned scope to ensure non-profit integrity and sustainability.
- Leverage technology, digital solutions, and automations to streamline baseline audit activities, day-to-day inquiries, and activities aimed at uncovering compliance issues.
- Provide compliance oversight of corrective action plans (CAPs) and also for auditing activities conducted by Forms Validity SMEs and Foundation Navigators; conduct monitoring of outsourced programs.
- Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Healthcare Compliance Office (HCO), Patient Experience, and Field teams to proactively mitigate operational risks and investigate compliance concerns.
- Own, review, and simplify process documents (SOPs, policies) and architect, drive, and deliver the GPF training strategy, including "train-the-trainer" programs to ensure process updates are consistently applied.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Compliance for Foundation Specialists and in designated domains (e.g., Patient Assistance Diversion, CMS Reporting, Product Billing Remediations).
- Lead informal cross-functional teams to foster a compliance mindset and environment.
- Coach and empower Foundation Navigators and internal stakeholder teams to heighten compliance awareness while protecting the independent nature and sustainability of the Foundation program.
