About The Position

We are seeking an Associate to join the Abdo Governmental Financial Solutions team. If you have a passion for serving local governments while furthering your accounting experience, this role is for you! As an Associate, you will manage multiple local government client engagements, providing specialized financial, accounting, and consulting services. You will play a part in various consulting projects to help clients address financial, operational, and regulatory challenges, and improve their financial efficiency. Our services include fractional CFO and staffing, long-term planning, budgeting/forecasting, audit preparation, process improvement, research/policy drafting, and software implementation. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA, or currently pursuing CPA, or plans to pursue CPA certification
  • Experience processing AP, AR, and performing cash and investment reconciliations
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Sage Intacct and QuickBooks (QBO) preferred
  • Experience in a government environment preferred
  • Experience with grant funding preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of accounting and consulting services, such as:
  • Communicate with clients on-site, by phone, using teleconferencing, and email to obtain accurate information
  • Process and post day-to-day accounting transactions
  • Perform period-end closes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Prepare financial statements and internal management reports
  • Provide clients with fully-customized and user-friendly dashboards, metrics, and analytical reporting
  • Collaborate on the budget and long-term planning process for clients
  • Assists with year-end close and preparation of work papers for the annual audit, where appropriate
  • Contribute to process evaluations and special analysis projects
  • Maintain financial data, records and reports in accordance with guidelines, procedures, and regulations
  • Prepare sales and use tax returns
  • Provide documentation and support for the client audits
  • Perform analytical and detailed work with numerical data efficiently and accurately
  • Utilize and develop a functional understanding of firm software and internal work flow/procedures to manage binder documentation and maintain client information
  • Actively utilize firm-approved technology and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and quality of work while exercising appropriate professional judgement and maintaining compliance
  • Exercise discretion and judgment when working with confidential client matters
