About The Position
Mercer specializes in assisting government-sponsored programs in becoming more efficient purchasers of health services. The Government Healthcare Financial Consultant partners with state governments to examine financial reports to understand emerging Medicaid healthcare experience and the financial performance of managed care organizations. This role involves interacting with credentialed actuaries and financial executives to ensure Medicaid dollars are utilized efficiently. The position offers an opportunity to work in a team environment, ensuring client recommendations incorporate multiple perspectives. New employees are included on client teams immediately, providing opportunities to learn and contribute to critical workloads. The Government Human Services Consulting (GHSC) team within Mercer offers expertise within a small business atmosphere.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree
- 10+ years of healthcare financial analysis experience, including Medicaid managed care, rate analysis, and provider payment modeling
- Experience presenting financial analyses to executive leadership and state Medicaid stakeholders
- Advanced Excel financial modeling skills

Responsibilities
- Work with client and team project managers to clearly define the scope, timelines and deliverable(s) of the project; ensure development and proposes essential project documents, including the budget and work plans
- Translate actuarial results and medical cost trends into policy and reimbursement recommendations
- Review cost trend and utilization analysis, financial forecasting and revenue adequacy analysis
