About The Position

The Heavy Equipment and Material Handling Equipment (HE/MHE) Instructor is responsible for providing both theoretical and practical training on the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of equipment. This role involves conducting classroom instruction on HE/MHE operation principles, safety regulations, and maintenance procedures, as well as providing hands-on training. The instructor will demonstrate safe and effective operation, including pre-operation checks, digging, lifting, maneuvering, and safe shutdown. Additionally, the role includes instructing on operator-level maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, fluid checks, filter changes, and basic troubleshooting, as well as maintainer-level tasks like electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and the use of diagnostic equipment. The instructor will also administer written and practical assessments, provide constructive feedback, and guide students to improve their skills and understanding.

Requirements

  • An understanding of Heavy Equipment and Material Handling Equipment (HE/MHE) components, systems, and operational controls.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting common electrical and hydraulic problems
  • Ability to obtain appropriate US Military Instructor certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 5 years of practical experience instructing the operation and maintenance of Heavy Equipment (HE) and Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
  • Experience instructing Military personnel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Technical competence is a plus
  • Must be customer service oriented, flexible, and have a high energy level
  • Must have excellent follow-through skills
  • Must have a professional and comfortable in most social settings
  • International and domestic travel, must be able to obtain/maintain valid passport

Responsibilities

  • Conduct classroom instruction covering Heavy Equipment and Material Handling Equipment (HE/MHE) operation principles, safety regulations, and maintenance procedures.
  • Provide hands-on training, demonstrating safe and effective operation of Heavy Equipment and Material Handling Equipment (HE/MHE) including pre-operation checks, digging, lifting, manoeuvring, and shutting down the machine safely.
  • Instruct on various operator-level maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, fluid checks, filter changes, and identifying basic troubleshooting issues.
  • Instruct on various maintainer-level maintenance tasks, such as electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and utilization of diagnostic equipment.
  • Administer written and practical assessments to evaluate student knowledge and proficiency in equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their skills and understanding.
