About The Position

The Government Affairs role advances company priorities through credible relationships with government, community, and public-sector stakeholders with a high degree of independence and technical leadership. The role works across HPLS functions and external partners to deliver safe, compliant, timely, and sustainable results during project execution and ongoing operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Government, Communications, Business, Law, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience; level and scope will be calibrated to demonstrated capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, analyze information, document work, and collaborate across functions.
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft 365 and job-relevant enterprise or technical systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English and work effectively in a multicultural environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Louisiana state or local government, public affairs, economic development, or industrial project experience.
  • Knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes and public-sector stakeholder networks.
  • Experience supporting major capital investment, infrastructure, workforce, or incentive initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with state and local government officials, elected officials, government agencies, and other key public-sector stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in government meetings, legislative engagements, agency discussions, and other public-sector activities to advance key business priorities.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and policy developments that may impact the company, and proactively recommend engagement strategies and responses.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external advisors to support government approvals, incentives, infrastructure, permitting, and other strategic matters critical to the company’s development and operations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, agencies, economic-development organizations, and community stakeholders.
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, funding, infrastructure, and policy developments and assess business impact.
  • Prepare briefing materials, issue positions, meeting objectives, correspondence, and executive talking points.
  • Coordinate support for permits, incentives, infrastructure commitments, workforce initiatives, and strategic approvals.
  • Represent the company at meetings, hearings, events, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Maintain engagement records, commitments, issue trackers, and required ethics or lobbying compliance documentation.
