The Government Affairs Advisor supports the organization’s government relations efforts through policy monitoring, analysis, and strategic advice. This role is responsible for developing policy recommendations, drafting briefing materials, presentations, and communications, and providing political context and interpretation to internal business units. Working closely with internal stakeholders across functions such as Tax, Regulatory, and Supply, the Advisor helps ensure teams are informed of relevant policy developments and their potential impacts. The role also involves engagement with external parties, including industry associations and other stakeholders, to support coordinated advocacy and information sharing. Based in Calgary, the position has a national focus and operates with a high degree of independence, influencing decision-making through analysis, insight, and clear communication rather than formal authority or budget accountability. Success is measured through the quality and timeliness of policy analysis, completion of assigned projects, and the effectiveness of materials produced.
